My drafts for our CD Digipack

Throughout the designing of the Digipack I have had a specific theme running through my head which is continued through each draft. The theme is urban and gritty. This is to emphasize the background and location in which the artist has had to grow up in. This is also portrayed through the choice of songs we have chosen for the album. All of the songs give a message about the artist. We feel this is so you know alot about the artists background and childhood growing up in run down estates. This is so you can either relate to the artist as he has had to work hard to get where he is today.

These are some of the drafts I have created for our CD covers:
I liked this CD cover as it is plain and simple and gets straight to the point, much like our artist. It also like our other drafts gives you the image of an urban artist. I do not know whether I like it in Black and White or whether I prefer it to be in colour.

These are the first ideas for our CD covers.

After I had done two drafts of my CD covers. We all decided to change our artist name to Illusion. This means that I will have to change the artist name on the CD covers to Illusion instead of Silent Witness. I prefer the name Illusion to Silent Witness as it gives the artist more of a mystery about him. Although Silent Witness also gives you an idea of a person without a face or identity.

For the second CD Cover draft I decided to change the colour of the image to Red, I prefer this colour to any other colour as it makes the CD stand out alot more that the Album. Also you do not get many CD covers with colours like Red on them so it is an original cover.

  1. This is nice and a good draft. It can be improved further by the use of essential terminology like denotes and connotes, representation, conventions and iconography.
