Our Audience Research Proposal
We will conduct our audience research by using two or three different methods of communication. The first will be questionnaires given out the public, the second an online poll featuring on either a personal website we have made or on a social networking site (Facebook, Twitter) and the third will be a focus group discussion where we can find out information straight from our target audience.
The sampling method we will use to conduct our research is the Judgement sampling method as we feel that if we use a small group of our target audience to answer the questions we need then we feel that this gives us the general views and opinions of the whole population of that specific group of people. Also we feel this sampling method is perfect for our project as we neither have the time nor resources to conduct a full scale sample, so this is the quickest and most efficient method of getting the results we need.
These are the questions we are going to use for our first set of audience research:
1. Male ( ) Female ( )
2. Age 16-25 ( ) 26-35 ( ) 36-45 ( ) 45+ ( )
3. Which music categories do you enjoy listening too?
· Rock ( )
· Pop ( )
· Hip Hop ( )
· Grime ( )
· R n B ( )
· Dubstep ( )
· Classical ( ) Other (please state)
4. Which type of music do you listen to most?
· Rock ( )
· Pop ( )
· Hip Hop ( )
· Grime ( )
· R n B ( )
· Classical ( )
· Dubstep ( )
· Other (Please State)
5. What makes a band or artist stand out to you and Why?
6. Do you prefer listening to music bands or solo artists?
7. What would you like a music video to include and why?
8. Do you have a specific preference as to the sex of the artists?
· Male ( )
· Female ( )
· Indifferent ( )
After we received our results from our research we then analyse the questions to determine which questions we would use for our second round of research. We made graphs out of our quantative data questions and also we analysed the qualitative questions.
These are our results:
Our research told us that our audience was not bothered by what sex the artist was, this allowed us to discuss as a group which of the genders we would use. We decided that our artist was going to be a male.
